It Was Into Darkness That I Fell

It was into darkness that I fell.
Plunging into an indigo abyss.
Head first.
My limbs flailing at their own will.
Without any warning, I was lost in the shadows.

Trapped at the bottom of a pit,
my hands placed forward
failed to reach the edge

Paralyzed
I exhausted myself.
Tragically defective.

The darkness dissipating slowly like fog on top of a hill
Lightness emerged.
Slowly, out of a corner first.
It grew stronger and brighter

Gradually, a vision of myself emerged
Contrasted against the darkness that had encased me.
I began to notice my internal landscape.

I stepped out onto a field and followed the dawn
East.
