Candle

It's like looking at a candle
flicker and paint certain shadows
It creates another world
One that's not so quite familiar
And that's when I start to think about it all again
My world starts to crumble
And it fades into the ocean
If there is a horizon
I don't know where it's pointing to
I just see a star-filled sky
And there's no other human walking by
No one to hold my hand
I just seem to walk around
In the streets of this old town
Over and over and over
Until my sandals break
Like my knees bent on the floor
Looking down, I think about you
And a smile comes out onto my face
Like a painting I once did
It was started but unfinished
Like a story I resist
Not wanting to know the ending
I look at the candle, flicker about
making certain shadows.
